Technical Data: Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer System

Before the Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer was installed Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer Systems

Years of performance in plants worldwide have proven the exceptional capabilities of C.C. Tech Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer Systems. In plating facilities both large and small, they make possible low-cost compliance with EPA, state and local discharge regulations.

These unique, high efficiency systems provide fast payback because, in addition to maintaining positive control of waste to the sewer, they save substantial quantities of valuable metals, brighteners and other chemicals by returning up to 99.99% of dragout to the plating tank.

The two stage C.C. Tech Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer System consists of: (1) Plating Tank, with liquid level controls; (2) Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer Tank, a four compartment counterflow type tank with control box, filter pump and piping, liquid level control, solenoid and piping.

The operator performs the following steps: (1) Lifts the rack from the Plating Tank, allowing the excess solution to drain back into the tank. (2) Immerses the rack into the dragout (first) compartment of the Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer (opposite end from the water inlet solenoid valve). (3) Removes the rack from the first compartment of the Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer and immerses it in the second compartment. (4) Removes the rack from the second Compartment and immerses it in the third compartment. (5) Removes the rack from the third compartment and immerses it in the forth compartment.

As the solution in the Plating Tank is lost through evaporation and adhesion to the rack, it is automatically replenished by the solution (pumped through a filter) from the dragout compartment. A drop in solution level in the dragout compartment activates a solenoid valve on the inlet water supply valve, filling all the compartments in the counterflow Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer to the preset level.

Preformance with the Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer

Data generated in a leading manufacturer's plating department graphically demonstrates the highly efficient effluent control and substantial chemical savings attainable with the Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer System.

It should be noted in this performance profile that the concentration of nickel metal in the nickel tanks was approximately 14oz./gal., a high concentration at which few plating tanks operate. Despite this high level, the concentration of nickel metal in the last Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer compartment (#4) never exceeded 7 mg./L. Any dragout entering a rinse tank following compartment #4, with a flow rate of 1 gpm, would result in a nickel concentration of less than 0.05 mg./L.

It can therefore be safely concluded from this data that the C.C. Tech Dragout/Rinse/Reclaimer System will meet the most stringent local, state, and Federal guidelines for plating plant effluent.
